The 2024 Australian Open
... I haven't posted for a year, so -

-- RIP Ted. RIP Yogib. RIP Simon. RIP Jonesy.

The years first Grand Slam is here. Starting a day early on Sunday, to ease some of the ridiculous 3-am finishes.
Some Seed numbers ;

1 - Djokovic - going for an incredible eleventh title...
Carrying a wrist injury, though.
8 - Rune - the Dane is only 20 but ready to challenge now
10 - De Minaur - beat Novak in the united cup and has made the top 10. Aussie home favourite
19 - Norrie - The only British seeded player
U - Dan Evans - unlucky to be unseeded, and could meet Alcaraz in round two

... and the Women ;

2 - Sabalenka - big and strong, Defending champion
3 - Rybakina - won Wimbledon 2022, could win this too
7 - Vondrousova - current Wimbledon champion, not a good record in Melbourne though
16 - Garcia - top French player, interesting draw against the returning Osaka
..

With Sinner & Alcarez think we are finally moving on from the Federer / Nadal / Djokovic era
Medvedev brilliant for 2 sets before Sinner turned up
Thats the second time in 3 years that Medvedev has been 2 sets up in the final and LOST
Needs to identify as a woman next year & take THAT title in two

Good work, CoG
See you in May for the French

One wonders about her mental toughness. Changing her coach all the time suggests she doesn't agree with them. Seems she would rather be a celebrity than a sports woman.

Always seems to be some sort of excuse for Raducanu every time she loses.

This was hurting, that was hurting, I was feeling sick.

Re: The 2024 Australian Open
Suspect Murray will skip the French & make a nominal (one round) farewell appearance at Wimbledon before knocking it on the head.
Nadal will try and be fit for one more go at the French before a similar final lap of honour at Wimbledon.
Then Djokovic is on his own

I saw this headline on Sky Sports, and thought they were being literal:
